I've been in the healthcare field for 15 years, and I have worked in a variety of settings over the years, including hospitals, community care and educational facilities.
As I worked tirelessly taking care of my patients I became unhealthy. I never felt like there was never enough time to think about how to meal plan or exercise consistently. And there were always lots of goodies in the lunchroom, like doughnuts and chocolates.
For the first bit it didn't seem to bother me, but then all of the sudden it started catching up to me. I started feeling like crap. My pants got tighter, I couldn't sleep properly, had a hard time concentrating, my PMS was terrible and I was stressed most of the time.
I was that person who would obsessively count every calorie, try and fail fad diets, starve and deprive myself of food, succumb to my cravings - only to repeat it all over again. My cravings for sugar and carby foods were out of control.
I thought I ate healthy for the most part, I made sure to include my veggies and made sure to bring my big jug of water to work...but it never seemed to be enough.
My body was trying to communicate with me and I knew that I had to change something. I did not want to keep going down this path. I wanted to feel like I used to, full of zest and energy, fitting into my favourite clothes.
I spent years educating myself on how to heal my body from the inside out to finally figure out why I was struggling. And guess what? I figured it all out. I have been able to increase my confidence, reclaim my energy and shine, and have kept the extra fluff off - for good. I have made it my mission to empower other healthcare professionals to learn how to nourish themselves from the inside out while turning off those fat-storing hormones and discover how to start living their best life!
